While residents of the Avalon are bracing themselves for another shot of winter, the arctic high parked over northern Quebec will keep the storm away from the west coast. As the strong SE wind comes around to the north expect another drop in temperature for Thursday. That wind direction change will also trigger more onshore snow late Wednesday into Thursday morning and bring another significant but brief drop in temperature. Friday will be fair and milder with temperatures expected to flirt with the freezing mark. The next weather event will approach from the west early Saturday with some wet snow and perhaps even a mixing to rain. That system is not expected to linger — Sunday will be cooler, but fair. Meanwhile, that cold high over northern Quebec continues to serve up bitterly cold weather across western Labrador. A warm-up and some light snow is expected Friday into Saturday.
