CORNER BROOK  The Actors’ Fund of Canada is receiving support from Atlantic Canada as money raised from Theatre Newfoundland and Labrador’s (TNL) Gros Morne Festival and Nova Scotia’s Two Planks and a Passion Theatre Company to assist in promoting the entertainment industry.

The two organizations have collectively raised $1,100, with TNL raising $700 though two shows they performed Aug. 21, “Two” and “The Ethie,” while Two Plans and a Passion’s summer hit “The Iliad” contributed more than $400 from its Aug. 17 show.

Jeff Pitcher, artistic director of Theatre Newfoundland and Labrador, was thrilled to be able to make the contribution in a time of crisis for arts professionals.

“What better place to support our Canadian colleagues than from the majestic surroundings of Gros Morne National Park?” he said in a prepared release.
