John K. Samson is giving a presentation about his recent artist residency at North West River today in Corner Brook.
The Winnipeg-based writer and singer/songwriter was the third artist-in-residence at the North West River residency - a partnership between the Labrador Institute and Grenfell Campus Art Gallery.
Samson is the singer and songwriter for The Weakerthans. He lives in Winnipeg, Treaty One Territory, where he is also the co-founder and managing editor of ARP Books.
His solo album, "Provincial," and book, "Lyrics and Poems, 1997-2012," were released in 2012. He is currently an adjunct professor of Creative Writing at the University of British Columbia. Novelist Miriam Toews calls Samson "the prairie poet voice of my generation."
His presentation, and performance, will take place from 5-6 p.m. at Grenfell Campus Art Gallery.
