STEPHENVILLE A 48-year-old man from Highlands in the Bay St. George South area is dead after a home he was renovating collapsed during the weekend.
Corp. Steve Henley of the Bay St. George RCMP said staff at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital in Stephenville called police Saturday advising them a man had died from injuries sustained while working on a house.
During the investigation, police found out the man who died, along with another man, were renovating a house when the accident occurred.
The victim was using a pry bar to remove an old porch and washroom from the structure when the entire roof collapsed, and he ended up under the roof.
The other man lifted the roof and the injured man crawled out on his own. He was then helped to a vehicle by the other man and brought to the hospital in Stephenville, where he died later that day from the injuries.
