CORNER BROOK — Vaughn Granter has been knocking on a lot of doors since he won the nomination to represent the Progressive Conservatives in the Feb.15 byelection in Humber West.
And what he’s been hearing is that people want a voice in the House of Assembly.
“They want someone from the district on the government side of the house,” said Granter, while taking a quick break from campaigning in the Shamrock Cresent area of the district Saturday afternoon.
He said people know how much the PC government has done for the province, the city and even Humber West when it comes to infrastructure dollars and they are happy with it.
He said he’s not hearing too many issues, just that people want strong representation in the district.
“They want a strong representative, a strong voice, and they know that I can bring that voice.”
Granter said he has always been a people person and is promising voters in Humber West that will continue.
He said the focus for his campaign will be to knock on as many doors and talk to as many people as he can.
Premier Kathy Dunderdale lent her support to the effort on Friday.
Granter said they visited Corner Brook Pulp and Paper and some local coffee shops to meet with potential voters.
Meanwhile, New Democratic Party candidate Rosie Myers spent the weekend meeting and talking with party officials to plan her campaign strategy and was unavailable for comment.
