The men were arrested Thursday morning following a traffic stop by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police on the Trans-Canada Highway. The men were charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of trafficking and one count of possession all under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act after police found approximately 55 pounds of marijuana and one kilogram of hashish in the vehicle they were travelling in.

Both men were released on separate recognizances with the requirement that they each post a $5,000 cash deposit. The men will be back in court on Dec. 3.

Two Quebec men are scheduled to appear in provincial court in Corner Brook today on drug charges after they were arrested by the Deer Lake Royal Canadian Mounted Police on Thursday.

The RCMP arrested the men as the result of a traffic stop on the Trans-Canada Highway west of the city. Police located and seized approximately 55 pounds of marijuana and one kilogram of hashish from the vehicle.

The men, 61and 45, are from Rigaud, Quebec. They were both charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of trafficking and one count of possession all under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
