CORNER BROOK  A man released on time served last week for assaulting police officers and other related crimes was again arrested outside a Corner Brook nightclub this past weekend.

According to Sgt. Robert Edwards, at about 11 p.m. Saturday night, patrolling RNC officers saw Pius Gould outside Starling’s Bar on Main Street — a breach of his court order.

When officers approached and arrested the 53-year-old, he allegedly assaulted the two officers. There were no injuries that required medical attention, said Edwards.

Gould was charged with three breaches of probation, resisting arrest, and two counts of assualting an officer. He appeared in provincial court Sunday, and was again released. His next court appearance is today.

The man received a 60-day jail sentence just last week in relation to verbally and physically assualting police officers on five separate occasions during a four-month period. He was released, having been in custody for more than 50 days prior to sentencing.

Gould’s previous offences involved him being drunk in public, during which he resisted arrest. On occasion it took four officers to subdue him and another time it took five.
