Woman seriously injured in tractor-trailer, car collision

A woman was seriously injured Monday when the car she was driving collided with a tractor-trailer on the Trans-Canada Highway, west of the Fair Haven exit.


According to the RCMP, the collision occurred around 12:35 p.m. Monday. The woman, who was the lone occupant in the car, was taken by ambulance to the Health Sciences Centre in St. John’s.

The car was travelling west on the Trans-Canda and the tractor-trailer was east bound when the collision occurred. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.

There was water buildup on the highway at the time of the collision.

The Trans-Canada Highway in the area was closed until 2 p.m., when one lane was re-opened. Both lanes were open to traffic around 4:15 p.m.

    I was one of the first people on the scene and have been wondering if the lady in the car was ok. I haven't seen any other news articles and am anxious to hear if anyone has info on her condition. We're thinking about her and the family, hope all works out.
