CORNER BROOK  Western Health is advising the public that visitor restrictions are in place on the ALC unit on the fifth floor of Western Memorial Regional Hospital due to a number of patients with gastrointestinal illness.

Western Health is asking for the public’s co-operation during these temporary visitor restrictions. Exceptions may be made in extenuating circumstances for immediate family members, however, they are asked to contact the unit directly before attempting to visit.

To prevent the spread of infection, the health authority asks people to wash their hands when entering or leaving any of its facilities. Western Health also recommends that anyone experiencing gastrointestinal like symptoms including vomiting and/or diarrhea refrain from visiting any of our facilities until at least 48 hours after their last symptoms. It is also recommended that you stay at home if you are unwell, avoid preparing food for others and thoroughly clean where people have been sick.
