CORNER BROOK In a split-second decision, the driver of an SUV in Massey Drive decided to chance running into a snowbank Friday morning.
Massey Drive Mayor Gord Davis happened upon the scene of a single-vehicle accident just after 7:30 a.m. He said a car was stopped on the main hill in the town, when the SUV approached from behind.
Davis said the driver told him he had to decide whether to hit the car or turn away from the collision. The vehicle went up the snowbank, flipping over on its side. The mayor said he and others helped the driver out of the sun roof. The SUV was then towed off the hill.
He said there were no injuries, but said it could have been much worse. The Corner Brook RCMP had no details of the accident as of Friday. They responded after those involved had left.
