Fire in Stephenville Crossing claims life of 53-year-old woman

A RCMP investigator is seen looking into the a burt out trailer on Ingram's Road in Stephenville Crossing in which a 53-year-old woman died early Saturday morning.

STEPHENVILLE CROSSING  An investigation is taking place into a fire on Ingram’s Road in Stephenville Crossing that claimed the life of a 53-year-old woman.

Cpl. Judy Morgan of the Bay St. George RCMP said Saturday afternoon that police were notified of a fire at a residence at 2 a.m. and on arrival the trailer home was fully engulfed in flames.

Police investigators were still on the scene on Saturday afternoon and up to that time did not have a cause for the fire.

Morgan said the woman was the lone occupant of the trailer.

The Stephenville Crossing Fire Department responded to the fire, with assistance provided by the Safety and Emergency Response Training Centre in Stephenville.
