Snowfall warning issued for Deer Lake-Humber Valley

CORNER BROOK  Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for the Deer Lake-Humber Valley area and the Green Bay/White Bay region.

The snow could be heavy at times in the areas where the snowfall warning has been issued, with accumulations of 15 centimetres or more falling by Friday morning.

For Corner Brook and vicinity, Environment Canada issued a special weather statement that a wintry mix of precipitation is expected overnight. The statement said that, for the west coast, central and northeastern portions of the island, rain is expected to mix with or change to snow overnight with a period of freezing rain possible.

The forecast for Corner Brook and vicinity is calling for rainfall amounts of between five to 10 centimetres and snowfall amounts of five centimetres. The snow is expected to end in the morning with another two centimetres falling.

The temperatures will reach a low of zero overnight and be steady at -1 C Friday afternoon.
