PASADENA —  Pasadena could be getting a skating area in time for its winter carnival.

The operative word is “area” — Mayor Otto Goulding said, at this point, it won’t be a rink.

“There won’t be any boards, nothing like that, it will just be an area where families or anyone can go skating,” he said. “We don’t know at this point what the dimensions will be.”

The town hasn’t had a rink since the old facility was torn down two years ago in preparation for the new multi-purpose building, construction of which is expected to begin in the spring.

Goulding said the skating area’s completion time depends, like anything else, on the weather.

“If we get more winter storms it could be a problem. We’ll really just have to wait and see,” he said. “But it is something we would like to have completed in time for the winter carnival.”

The Pasadena Winter Carnival is set to begin Feb. 14 and will run until Feb. 24.
