STEPHENVILLE  The 10-year-old girl injured in an accident that occurred on Route 490 near Indian Head on Sunday has been transferred from Corner Brook to St. John’s for further treatment.

The girl was a front seat passenger in a car that was being driven by her 49-year-old Stephenville mother when the accident occurred. The two ended up pinned under a tractor-trailer following the accident that was reported around 2 p.m. that day.

The girl was taken to Western Memorial Hospital in Corner Brook on Sunday and transferred to the Janeway Children’s Hospital in St. John’s on Monday because of extensive damage to one of her legs and concern about further complications.

As of Monday evening, her mother was still at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital in Stephenville.
