DEER LAKE  An arrest in western Newfoundland has the Royal Canadian Mounted Police warning local businesses to be cautious of fraudulent transactions.

William James Lewis, 48, of Dartmouth, N.S. was held in police custody following his arrest Wednesday evening in Flower’s Cove. He was charged in relation to an alleged credit card fraud at Pasadena Foodland earlier this week.

A bail hearing was scheduled in provincial court in Corner Brook for Lewis Thursday afternoon — the result of which is not known at this time.

Deer Lake RCMP are advising local business owners to be cautious in their daily transactions as several people travelling throughout the province have been arrested over the past week in relation to alleged credit card frauds involving thousands of dollars.
