The Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Bay St. George seized 11 pounds of marijuana and 866 methamphetamine “ice” tablets during the search of a vehicle on Tuesday.

As a result of the investigation, a 24-year-old man from Drummondville, Que. has been charged with possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking and breach of a probation order issued by a judge in Sherbrooke, Quebec.

Steve Belle-Isle appeared in provincial court in Stephenville on Wednesday. He was to be released pending the posting of bail.

“Ice” is the slang name used to describe crystal methamphetamines because of its resemblance to ice crystals, but it is also used interchangeably to describe powdered methamphetamines and methamphetamines in tablet form as in this case.
