A temporary visitor precaution is in place at Bay St. George Long Term Care Centre in Stephenville Crossing due to a number of residents with gastrointestinal illness.
In a news release, Western Health asked for the public’s cooperation during the precautions. Exceptions for visitation may be made in extenuating circumstances for immediate family members, however, they are asked to call before attempting to visit.
The number for the care centre is 646-5800 with the following extensions: North Wing (Harmony Lane) Ext. 7243; South Wing (Tranquility Place) Ext. 7236; Protective Care (Memory Lane) Ext. 7222; and Chronic Care (Serenity Place) Ext. 7225.
Visitor precautions are a series of infection control measures put in place to reduce the risk of spreading infectious diseases common in health care facilities this time of year and are designed to help keep residents, families, staff and visitors healthy and safe.
Visitors can help reduce the spread of illness by cleaning hands before entering the unit and after visiting loved ones, visiting only one resident at a time, not visiting if you are experiencing flu-like or gastrointestinal symptoms.
