Three rescued when boat breaks down on Churchill River

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary was involved in another rescue on the Churchill River in Labrador Wednesday.

Officers responded to three people stranded in a broken down boat on the Churchill River around 1:45 p.m. Wednesday.

All three were located safely on an island and rescued. The boat was towed safely back to shore.

This is the second incident this week on the Churchill River.

A 57-year-old man, who was reported missing in a boat on the Churchill River, was located and brought safely back to shore Tuesday night.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary in Churchill Falls, the Churchill Falls Ground Search and Rescue and a member of the Canadian Rangers responded to the report of the missing man around 8:45 p.m. Tuesday.

The man was located in the rapids area of the Churchill River and brought back safely to shore with no injuries reported.
