It’s a wonder there aren’t more accidents, says one Corner Brook driver.
He says he witnessed a “little white car” whip around the lights near Grenfell Campus one morning this week.
“Instead of waiting a few seconds for the light to turn green, the driver took a side ramp, did a quick turn and sped on his way toward downtown.
“It’s a wonder there wasn’t a crash considering it was a busy part of the day with many heading to work — probably half asleep at that.
“Why on earth would anyone be in such a hurry just to get to work?” he wondered.
Another driver says it’s good to see some dots of paint in parts of Corner Brook which indicate traffic lines are on the way.
“It’s taken until the middle of June to get started with some markings, so we should have the lines in place for July.
“I know the weather has been bad but why on earth does it take this long to get a few painted lines on city streets?” he asked.
June is on its last legs and it’s time to dig out the Old Farmer’s Almanac to peer into the future weather in July.
The month should begin from the first to the fifth with sunny skies and seasonable temperatures.
The days from the sixth to the 12th will bring heavy rain and a cooling trend.
The period from the 13th to the 20th will have scattered showers and continuing cool temperatures.
Showers will continue from the 21st to the 26th and temperatures will be very warm.
The month will end, according to the almanac, with more showers and a turn to cooler temperatures.
All in all, not a great outlook for the middle of our short summer.
