“I noticed today the gates in the moose fencing at the intersection of Whites Road and the TCH were wide open without a person or vehicle in sight.
“Those fences were put there for a purpose. Don’t these lazy people realize they’re playing with peoples’ lives?” he asked.
A Corner Brook resident had some rare praise for the resurfacing work being done around the city.
He says those carrying out the grinding and repaving appear to be real artists at their work.
“There isn’t even a ridge where the old pavement ends and the new sections begin when they are done.
“Too bad only some sections of some streets can be attended to every year.
“The state our streets are in, nearly every inch of pavement from Curling to Riverside Drive could use some work if we had the money,” he said.
It’s the end of July already. Where does the time go — especially the summer months?
With that lament, it’s time to look at what the Old Farmer’s Almanac says about weather for August.
The month should begin, says the almanac, from the first to the fourth with scattered showers and seasonable temperatures.
From the fourth to the fifth, there is a threat of a tropical storm hitting the area, says the almanac.
The period from the seventh to the 12th will bring a few showers and turn warm. The 13th to the 16th will be sunny and cool.
Following that, we return to another tropical storm threat from the 17th to the 21st. The days from the 22nd to the 26th are predicted to be sunny and turning very warm.
Following that, thunderstorms will arrive before turning sunny and nice from the 27th to the 30th.
The month ends on the 31st with showers. All and all, sounds like an eventful month.
