A woman who passes near the area often wonders what is causing the stench in the ditch along Confederation Drive in Corner Brook near the intersection with Pine Grove Avenue.
She says it’s been there for quite a while and it’s time for someone to find out where it is coming from.
“It can’t be a healthy situation,” she said.
A reader dropped off this note:
“I wonder why some notices advertising events are left up long after the event takes place.
“Near the entrance to Jubilee ball field on O’Connell Drive, there is a notice advertising a craft sale at the Pepsi Centre for Saturday, April 5.
“Isn’t it about time that notice was removed?” the writer said.
Another reader wrote to say he is in favour of the city having dumpsters stationed around the city for residents to use.
The reader figures that would put an end to the practice of dumping household garbage in remote areas because some people won’t, or can’t, take it to the dump.
“The problem would be eliminated, or at least improved, if dumpsters — two or three large ones — were placed around the town so people could look forward to having them there and would use them.
“A schedule could be drawn up to have the dumpsters in the east end of the city in the first week and the west end in the second week ... and so on.
“We can’t go on doing nothing. Forget Wild Cove, the guilty culprits are not going there, but they might use something close to home,” the writer said.
