Chris Hughes drained 26 points Thursday night as the Corner Brook Regional High Level 1 Titans edged the Pasadena Academy Falcons 81-75 at the Templeton Academy Invitational Boys Basketball Tournament.
Nathan Barker added 23 points for the winning side in a back and forth round-robin game at the school in Meadows.
Mitchell Snow paced Pasadena with 25 points, while Nick Pilgrim chipped in with 20.
In other action, the host Templeton Academy Tigers squad defeated the Stephenville High Spartans 79-43.
Patrick Brake scored 19 points in the winning effort, with Cody Otto knocking down 10.
Brayden Legge racked up a dozen for Stephenville, while Tuiri Lomond added 11.
Also on Thursday, the Elwood High Lakers of Deer Lake edged the Level 2 Titans 48-44 on the strength of a 17-point performance from Jeremy Davis.
Andrew Moss sank 12 points for the victors.
Thomas Byrne’s 14 led the way for the Level 2 Titans, while Brady Cook contributed 11 points.
With five games in the books, the Level 1 Titans are now 2-0, followed by Templeton at 1-0. Pasadena and Elwood are both 1-1, with Stephenville at 0-1 and the Level 2 Titans at 0-2.
Tournament action resumes 12:30 p.m. today at Templeton with Exploits Valley High of Grand Falls-Windsor tipping off against Stephenville High.
