Veitch's Hawks Mike Brake commits to the pitch with Veitch Physio Aces Greg Whelan behind the plate during action at Jubilee Field Tuesday.
The big boys showed up to swing Tuesday night.
Mike Brake drove in four runs in a 3-for-4 night and Darren Colbourne drove in three going 2-for-3 with a walk to lead the charge in a 12-5 victory at Jubilee Field.
The two veterans were instrumental as the Veitch’s Ultramar Hawks got the upper hand in the win over the Veitch Physiotherapy Aces in the Corner Brook senior baseball tilt.
Glen Seaborn was the top hitter for the Aces, who had seven hits as a group, with a brace of RBIs going 1-for-2 with a walk. The Hawks pushed four runs across in the sixth and added two more in the seventh to put the game out of reach.
League action resumes Thursday night with the Wing N It Curling Marlins tangling with the Hawks with hopes of picking up the expansion team’s first win of the season.
The team is winless in 11 games.
