The Hawks are a Corner Brook Women’s Soccer League team consisting of local women with a desire to play the game and the courage to attempt something new.

Unfortunately, the results have been downright catastrophic so far for the amicable group.

They were on the wrong end of a 13-1 score Wednesday night at Wellington Street Sports Complex, falling to the Shamrocks.

Jen Solo and Erika Girardin both scored hat tricks in the winning cause, while Olivia Allen, Katie Pottie and Jenna McWhirter each struck twice. Taylor Hamlyn supplied a single marker to the winning total.

Unlike their previous two games, in which they were defeated 16-0 and 14-0, the Hawks did manage to get on the board in this one, with Marta Croll-Baehre picking up the goal in the 75th minute.

The 4-0-0 Under-18s are the current league leaders, with the Island Orthotics Curling Rangers trailing at 2-1-0. The Shamrocks improved to 1-1-0, while Veitch’s Physiotherapy come in at 1-2-0. Stephenville are 0-1-0 so far, while the Hawks drop to 0-3-0.
