ST. JOHN’S  — Earning a split on the road is something any team would learn to live with when every point counts.

Western eked out a 3-0 win over Feildians in provincial Under-14 boys soccer league play Sunday morning at Feildian Grounds in St. John’s. That victory gave them the split after the western side lost 1-0 Saturday night in the first weekend matchup of the two provincial league entries.

Andrew Antle, Mike Morgan and Brent Eason scored for Western in Sunday’s shutout victory that saw keeper Adam Canning deny all scoring chances fired his way.

One night earlier, Noah Walsh was the game’s only goalscorer as Feildians posted a 1-0 victory over Western with Sam Audus and Riley Ward sharing the shutout.

Western will be back in action again Aug. 23-24 when they play host to St. John’s 13s in a two-game showdown at Wellington.
