The quest for the Corner Brook women’s soccer league playoff crown is still very much within grasp for the Stephenville entry.

Michaela Alexander’s three-goal performance paved the way for Clancy’s FC in a 7-1 win over Shoppers West Hawks in a Corner Brook women’s soccer elimination game Monday night.

Symone Hunt scored twice for the third-seeded Stephenville squad against a Hawks contingent that managed to grab the sixth and final playoff berth after regular season play. Abigail Penton scored the other two goals for Clancy’s FC.

Tara Mitchell, with a late marker at 67 minutes, scored the only goal for the Hawks.

Playoff action resumes Wednesday night with fourth-place Veitch’s Physio tangling with fifth-place Health and Performance Shamrocks in another elimination game 9 p.m. at Wellington Street Sports Complex.
