The Health and Performance Hawks are regular season champions of the Corner Brook Molson Senior Men’s Soccer League following a 4-2 victory over the Investors Group Under-18s on Thursday night at Wellington Street Sports Complex.

Steve Hobbs struck twice for the Hawks in the win, while Paul Prosper and Doug Warren provided the other offence.

Ryan Dawe and Alex Hennesey were the goalscorers for the losing side.

Mike Normore earned the goalkeeping triumph over Tyler Kelloway.

The Hawks moved back ahead of the Steers Insurance Curling Rangers in the standings, with a 13-6-3 record and 48 points. The Rangers finished with an 11-6-5 mark for 47 points. The West Side Monarchs are in third place with 41 points and an 11-5-5 record, followed by the Under-18s at 10-8-3 and 36 points. Clancy’s FC have 12 points thanks to a 2-6-0 record in their abbreviated, bonus points schedule, while the Sorrento Tactics FC sit at 0-16-4 and four points.

Dawe gave the Under-18s an early lead on Thursday, scoring in the 28th minute, which was all the offence of the first half.

Things picked up in the second half, as Hennesey put his side up by two in the 55th minute.

From there, it was all Hawks.

Hobbs scored two goals in about a minute, striking in the 60th and 61st to tie the game.

Prosper bulged the twine in the 67th for the eventual game-winner, before Warren sealed it with a marker in the 80th minute.
