CORNER BROOK A national online cycling magazine has named Cycle Solutions in Corner Brook one of Canada’s best bike shops this year.
Canadian Cyclist announced the winners of its Best Shops in Canada for 2013 contest on its website Wednesday.
The winners were voted on by the readers of Canadian Cyclist, which said it was amazed at the response it got from its readers. The online magazine said it received almost four times as many ballots as it did for the same contest last year.
In one week, there were 3,953 votes cast from every province, plus Yukon.
The sheer number of shops nominated also exploded, according to Canadian Cyclist’s announcement, with more than eight times as many shops receiving nominations. Many shops tweeted about the competition, or included a link to it in their newsletters and Facebook pages, but the magazine said two things shone through for all of the top ranked stores: customer service and passion for cycling.
The 16 winners were broken down by region, with Cycle Solutions and Mike’s Bike Shop in Dieppe, N.B. getting the nod for Atlantic Canada.
All of the winners will receive a certificate identifying them as the bike shops most respected by their customers.
Only two shops repeated as winners — the Cyclery in Ottawa, Ont. and Pedalhead Road Works in Edmonton, Alta.
