Three men have been arrested and charged and an additional arrest is expected as a result of an undercover drug investigation in Corner Brook last weekend.

The joint investigation by the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary/Royal Canadian Mounted Police Joint Forces Operation Street Level Drug Team was a multi-agency initiative utilizing trained undercover police officers along with resources from the Criminal Intelligence Service Newfoundland and Labrador and the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit.

The investigation involved the purchase of illegal drugs and the execution of a search warrant on a residence in Corner Brook. The search resulted in the seizure of 40 grams of cocaine, 113 grams of marijuana and an undisclosed quantity of cash.

As a result of the search warrant, a 23-year-old man from Corner Brook was arrested and charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking a controlled substance and failing to comply with the conditions of his court order. He was held in custody at the Corner Brook Detention Centre and appeared in provincial court Feb. 17.

He was subsequently released to appear in court April 1.

In addition to the search warrant, the investigation resulted in the seizure of 17.5 grams of cocaine and the arrest of a 24-year-old man from Corner Brook. He was charged with two counts of trafficking in a controlled substance, conspiracy to commit an indictable offence and failing to comply with the conditions of a court order.

He was released to appear in provincial court March 11.

Further investigation also led to the arrest of a 21-year-old man from Corner Brook on an outstanding warrant. He is scheduled to appear in provincial court March 6.

The investigation is continuing and police say an additional arrest is anticipated.
