Stephenville Airport is being considered as a site for a show by the aerobatic Snowbirds Demonstration Team.

Capt. Steve MacDonald and Capt. Greg Mendes were in Stephenville last week and met with airport manager Brenda Martin. The reason for the visit was to perform a site inspection and a planning to do a planning for a possible Snowbirds performance early this summer.

The last time the team held a performance in Stephenville was in 2008.

The Canadian Forces Snowbirds aerobatics team is preparing its 2014 schedule of events and Stephenville is on the list as a possible location for one of its air shows.

Martin said as soon as the team finalizes its schedule the airport will be notified as to whether it has been successful.

The Stephenville Airport Corporation has requested the weekend of June 21 for consideration and is now awaiting the decision.

“I am really excited that we may have a tentative schedule to host this high-profiled and prestigious team,” Martin said.
