A 24-year-old man detained for being intoxicated in public was kept in custody a little longer after he allegedly assaulted a police officer in Corner Brook Wednesday evening.

Jordan King-Hann was initially detained after police received a complaint of an intoxicated man on the Corner Brook Stream Trail near the Glynmill Inn Pond at round 8:35 p.m. Wednesday.
According to the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary, an officer was allegedly assaulted by King-Hann as he was being processed at the lock-up facilities. He was charged with assaulting a police officer, along with possession of a controlled substance.
He made an appearance in provincial court Thursday, but had his case set over for a bail hearing Friday. He was released and had his next court appearance scheduled for Aug. 8.
