The man was arrested last weekend and released after an appearance at provincial court Monday.
However, he was later taken back into custody when he allegedly made contact with two people the court had forbidden him from communicating with, including the woman he is accused of assaulting. The allegations are that he sent the two people electronic messages later on the same day he had been released.
Besides sexual assault and the two breaches of court orders, the man is also charged with assault, criminal harassment for repeatedly communicating with the woman and two counts of uttering threats.
A publication ban requested by the Crown as a measure to protect the identity of the complainant prevents the man from being identified.
