The Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit (CFSEU-NL), an integrated investigative unit consisting of members from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC), executed a search warrant on a Corner Brook home Feb. 17, the unit said in a news release.

The investigation began after police in the United Kingdom found out a teen girl in that country had been victimized online. The offence originated in Newfoundland, police say.

The man first appeared in provincial court in Corner Brook Friday and remains in custody.

CFSEU-NL says parents should be aware of their children's online activities, especially social networking.
