Craig Kelloway was charged in January with three counts of break and entry and three counts of breaching probation.
He is accused of breaking into Empire Atlantic merchandise store, Yates and Woods surveyors office and The Humber Hound pet grooming shop in Corner Brook.
He waived his right to a bail hearing days after his arrest because he was told there was an ongoing police investigation and more charges were possible.
When the matter was called in provincial court Tuesday, his lawyer said her client now wants to exercise his right to a bail hearing. Sandi MacKinnon said Kelloway was initially told it might take around 45 days for the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary to finish its investigation.
Later, continued MacKinnon, Kelloway was told the investigation had progressed to samples being sent to a forensics lab and it would be another 30 days for the results to come back.
The latest, MacKinnon told the court Tuesday, was that it could be July 15 before those results are available.
Judge Kymil Howe agreed Kelloway has every right to a bail hearing and set the hearing for June 22.
MacKinnon said her client won’t be entering any pleas until it is determined whether or not further charges will be filed.
