Colin Percy Wheeler, 35, was denied bail following a hearing on Wednesday afternoon.
Wheeler was arrested over the weekend and charged with assault, assault with a weapon, uttering threats to police to cause bodily harm to police and two counts of mischief — one for damaging his alleged victim’s coat and another for interfering with the lawful use or enjoyment of property belonging to another woman following and incident at a home in Benoit’s Cove.
In denying Wheeler bail, Judge Catherine Allen-Westby said she felt he was a substantial threat to the community.
Wheeler will be back in court on Nov. 14.
