Bourgeois, 24, is in custody on charges of attempted murder and aggravated assault in relation to an alleged incident in October 2015.
The charge of armed robbery and a single count of possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose were filed against Bourgeois in November 2016 while he was in prison.
When those matters were called in provincial court in Corner Brook Tuesday, Bourgeois elected to be tried by judge and jury in the Supreme Court of Newfoundland and Labrador. Before that happens, a one-day preliminary inquiry will take place in provincial court March 21 to determine if he should be committed to stand trial.
Bourgeois and co-accused Paxton Sheahan have already been committed to stand trial on the attempted murder and aggravated assault charges in relation to the stabbing of Jonathan Park in October 2015, and will both be arraigned in the Supreme Court of Newfoundland and Labrador next week.
Park’s brother, Ashley Park, has already been convicted and sentenced to a prison term for his role in the armed robbery Bourgeois is now accused of taking part in.
