Muskan Khan enjoys helping out the Southwest Coast SPCA.

That’s why the 16-year-old Grade 11 student of Stephenville High School has independently organized an endeavour aptly titled “Paws and Whiskers”.

According to a prepared release from the Southwest Coast SPCA, the venture involves her placing collection boxes in the school she attends, along with WalMart, Canadian Tire, Buck or Two and Dominion Market.

Kim Blanchard of the Southwest Coast SPCA said people are invited to donate items most needed by their cat and kitty shelter located at 49 Main Street in Stephenville. The top item needed is clumping kitty litter.

She said the local SPCA is especially thrilled to see Khan take the initiative to organize and conduct these collections.

Blanchard said this gives them (SPCA) hope there will be another generation sensitive to the needs of stray, homeless and abandoned animals.
