According to a Memorial University Gazette posting, his appointment was approved by the Board of Regents effective May 1 until Dec. 31, or when a new vice-president for the campus is appointed.
Emke will move into the role following Mary Bluechardt’s departure. Bluechardt, who has held the position since July 2011, resigned in January after accepting the position of president of Mount Saint Vincent University.
Emke has been with Grenfell Campus since 1993 and has been acting associate vice-president research at Grenfell since November 2015.
He is also the facilitator for internationalization and associate professor, social/cultural studies.
