John Carter Cash, 44, was at the Deer Lake airport Monday afternoon after he stripped down to nothing but his underwear. As a result, the musician, music producer, author and songwriter spent the better part of his visit to the town in the lockup at the Royal Canadian Mounted Police detachment.

The RCMP received the report of a man at the airport who had stripped down to his underwear at 2:10 p.m.  At the time it was reported that Cash was either drunk or had medical issues.

Officers with the detachment spoke with security upon their arrival and learned that Cash had been convinced to put his clothing back on, but it was their opinion that he was indeed drunk.

Cash, of Hendersonville, Tennessee had been in the province hunting and had missed his flight home.

He was arrested at the scene for causing a disturbance, but police say no charges will be laid as Cash was co-operative and has no previous criminal record. Security at the airport told police that very few people witnessed Cash’s performance at the airport.

Prior to the incident, Cash posed for a photo with local fan Beth Fequet, who later posted the picture on her Facebook page calling Cash her “hero’s son.”

Cash was to be released when sober and is expected to catch a flight home sometime this morning.
