That could mean both good news and bad news for the Corner Brook Royals and their players.

It appears the league will wipe the remaining two games from the books, and the season will wrap up as is. That will result in home-ice advantage for the Royals in their first round match with the Clarenville Caribous. The Grand Falls-Windsor Cataracts could not have been caught at the top of the standings for the past two weekends.

A tight scoring race could also go to Cam Fergus of the Cataracts by a single point over Royals first-year player Brandon Hynes and Steve Yetman of the Cataracts.

These decisions will not become final until a league meeting Monday evening.

Ross Coates, president of the Royals, said it is likely all results and statistics will remain as is after 22 games played. However, it won’t become official until Monday’s meeting.

Coates said there appears to be no weekends available to make up the games, with playoffs scheduled to start next weekend. The Cataracts are scheduled to play the Lameque au Petit Mousse of New Brunswick in an Atlantic regional playoff at the end of the season to determine who advances to the Allan Cup.
