New to this year’s celebration of winter in western Newfoundland, slated to run from Jan. 30 to Feb. 8, will be a contest to find Snow West’s culinary best.

The public will be invited to submit a menu that includes one entree and one dessert. From those submissions, celebrity chef Brad Long, former host of the  Restaurant Makeover Show Canada, will pick three finalists who will participate in a challenge to win a winter get-away package.

During the festival, the three chosen entrants will be mentored by Long to refine their menus for presentation at an event called “A Culinary Affair” at Marble Inn Resort in Steady Brook.

Anyone who buys a ticket to attend “A Culinary Affair” will get to vote on the dishes and choose the overall winner.

The event includes a meet and greet with Long and his wife, executive pastry chef Cheryl Long.
