The Bay St. George and Burgeo detachments of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police say that Jack Sibley was located off the road in his vehicle about 15 kilometres from the Peter Strides area on the Burgeo Highway.

Sibley, 78, who is a diabetic had reportedly left Stephenville around 6 a.m. this morning and was said to be headed for Ramea.

Police say the Department of Transportation and Works and volunteers from the Peter Strides area assisted in locating Sibley. He will be spending the night in the Peter Strides area until weather conditions improve.

The Burgeo Highway was closed to traffic earlier today because of storm conditions.

RCMP searching for missing Ramea man

The Bay St. George and Burgeo detachments of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police are requesting the public’s assistance in locating a missing 78-year-old man from Ramea.

Jack Sibley is diabetic and may be driving a 2014 dark green Chev Cruze. He is believed to have left Stephenville sometime before 6 a.m. today, heading home to Ramea.

The Burgeo highway has been closed since early in the morning as conditions on the road are treacherous, due to the weather system moving through the area.

Anyone with information about Sibley’s whereabouts is asked to contact the RCMP.
