The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary had an area near the Western Memorial Regional Hospital cordoned off early Friday morning.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary has confirmed there was a sudden death in the West Valley Road area of Corner Brook early Friday morning.

According to a news release issued late Friday morning, a 52-year-old man from Corner Brook was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel who responded to the location along with police at around 7 a.m.

The RNC said the man’s death is not considered to be suspicious in nature.

The police are continuing to investigate the incident. Anyone that may have information in relation to this incident is asked to contact the RNC at 709-637-4100.

A body was found in an area near Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook early Friday morning, The Western Star has learned.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary had cordoned off an area between the hospital and West Valley Road.

The RNC was no longer maintaining a presence at the scene by the time The Western Star went to check out reports of an incident. The Western Star contacted the RNC, but no one was made available to discuss the incident at this time.

Multiple sources have told The Western Star that a person was found dead in the area. One person said they saw a hearse at the bottom of the hill by West Valley Road.
