The new daily service will be operated by WestJet’s regional carrier, WestJet Encore, utilizing the 78-seat Bombardier Q400 NextGen aircraft.
That’s the same craft that started a daily service between the two airports July 15.
When the second flight service starts next spring, it will arrive in Deer Lake at 10:52 p.m. after departing from Halifax at 8:50 p.m.
The flight will depart from Deer lake at 5:30 a.m. and will arrive in Halifax at 6:48 a.m.
The flight that started earlier this month departs Halifax at 7:40 a.m. and arrives In Deer Lake 9:46 a.m. before departing Deer Lake at 10:20 a.m. for an 11:38 a.m arrival in Halifax.
“This is great news for the airport and for travelers to and from the region,” Jamie Schwartz, Deer Lake Regional Airport’s chief executive officer said in a prepared statement. “A second daily flight by WestJet Encore will increase frequency and provide more options for those traveling to Halifax and beyond.”
