Big berg visits Little Burnt Bay

LEWISPORTE, NL – It may feel like summer in central Newfoundland today with an expected high of 25 degrees Celsius, but there is at least one cool customer in Little Burnt Bay.

The small central community has a massive visitor floating around its shores, a towering iceberg. The iceberg is at least 100 feet tall and its tip can be seen jutting over the ridge as you drive down through town. Local tour guide Grahame Wood, who operates Mussel Bed Boat tours, says he estimates the age of the ice at about 10,000 years old.
