Frederick Gordon Powell

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Frederick Gordon Powell, beloved husband of Arleen Powell (nee Connolly). Fred was born on Dec. 1st, 1935 in Corner Brook, NL, and died in Ladner, BC on Sept. 10, 2018. Fred is survived by his sons Gordon (Lynne) and Brian (Sylvie), his grandchildren, Nathanael (Erin), Daniel, Amanda (Mitchell), Elizabeth (Leigh), Mathieu, Geneviève, Frederick, and granddaughter-in-law Amanda-Jane Palm (Brandon), and his great-grandchildren, Madeleine, Gabriel and Benjamin, and his great-grandchildren of the heart, Isaac, Jacinda, Evangeline and Violet. He is also survived by his siblings Alex Powell, Elizabeth (Ray deceased) Gallagher, Barbara (George) Hutchings, Don (Alison) Powell, and Joe (Norma) Powell. His two sisters Margaret and Edith predeceased him, as well as his grandson Jordan (Amanda-Jane Palm). Fred was loved by his large extended family and was often seen sitting with one of his many great-grandchildren. He enjoyed playing Bridge, watching anything on TV involving sports (in particular, hockey), listening to Newfie music, working on a challenging crossword and spending time with family. Before his retirement, he worked as a Chemical Engineer. Fred was a dedicated member of his church (Brighouse United) and a strong supporter of Pro-Life. A celebration of his life will be held on Monday October 1st at 2pm, Brighouse United, 8151 Bennett Rd., Richmond, BC.
