“Son of a Son” is the title of the newest album from Bay of Islands singer-songwriter Scott Blanchard of Gillams.

A CD release party is in the making, Blanchard’s social networking site for the album proclaims. Personal liner notes written in the new album jacket dedicate the recordings in solemn tribute to his late father, Bernie.

"On June 26, 2014, my family and I suffered a tragic loss due to a horrific boating accident in the Bay of Islands, NL. In the midst of this recent downfall a wonderful project has come to completion. My dad and I, along with the help of some great friends and musicians, have created something very special. I would like to dedicate this album to my father, my friend, my hero!"

Bern Blanchard’s musical talents on accordion again complement a selection of home-crafted Newfoundland melodies and full lyrics written and performed by Scott on the new album, locally produced and published at Gord Payne’s Bayview Studio in Cox’s Cove.

Working their fifth recording project before Mr. Blanchard’s unexpected and untimely death at age 68, the father and son are pictured on the new album cover toting their instruments along the Bay of Islands shore. They were joined in their latest undertaking by Tony Delaney on lead guitar and with Penny Lambert providing harmony vocals.

Early pre-release sales of the newest collection look promising.
