Dear Editor: Often one can define the word "entitlement" as the ‘belief that one is deserving of or entitled to certain privileges’ (Merrriam-Webster Dictionary) and when I read the article about how one man feels that it’s his ‘God-given right’, ‘they’re taking from us’, ‘…as I’m concerned it belongs to us…’

People may feel that it’s part of their heritage or culture, but we all must remember that we are only borrowing these resources from our children and their children, as our parents and grandparents did from us.

Together we must forget our wants and think of the needs of the future generations.

There are many layers and many reasons for the decrease in returns and to start naming them is to leave risk of forgetting one or several. The challenges and solutions are complex with no easy answers. My experience has taught me it's always best to be part of the solution. Aid in the science, communicate your concerns and follow evidence-based practices and research. Everyone has to be part of the solution. It's not us versus them. It's our province, our country, and our children’s future resource.
