Find something you love to do and stick with it to see where it takes you in life.

That’s the philosophy followed by Blomidon junior golf star Taylor Cormier, winner of the junior female golfer of the year award for Golf Newfoundand and Labrador for the second-straight season.

Cormier has been honing her skills at Blomidon Golf and Country Club in Corner Brook under the tutelage of pro Wayne Allen since she was four years old.

She had another stellar season on the golf course in 2017 where she won the provincial junior women’s golf championship to earn the right to represent the province at Atlantic and national golf tournaments. She won top honours on the Tely Junior Golf Tour in her age group and she also represented her province at the 2017 Canada Summer Games in Winnipeg.

“I feel honoured because it’s a pretty big award and, especially since I’m only 15, it’s pretty awesome,” Cormier said.

Golf is her favourite thing to do. She doesn’t dabble in any other sports because she wants to focus all of her energy on being the best golfer she can be. She hopes to play golf at the college level when she graduates from high school so she plans on keeping the golf course as her second home.

“I really love the sport. I just find it really fun to just be out and have something to do all summer, and dedicate my time to one thing and focus on one thing,” she said.

She plans on keeping fit over the winter by joining family members on regular visits to the cross-country ski park and doing what she can to ensure her strength and conditioning are where she wants it to be when next summer rolls around.
