The Veitch’s Ultramar Hawks made quick work of the Wing’n It Marlins on a rainy Tuesday night at Jubilee Field.
The precipitation could have eventually brought the Corner Brook Molson Senior Baseball League game to a premature halt, but instead it was the mercy rule, as the Hawks racked up 12 runs to the Marlins total of two in five innings.
Fred Cutler carved the Marlins with three RBIs and three runs scored in a 2-for-3 stat line overall. Mike Simms chipped in with a 2-for-3 night that produced three runs.
Des Ball and Danny Glover scored the two runs for the Marlins.
The pitching win went to Garrett Anderson, who surrendered two runs on three hits through five innings, with four strikeouts and four walks.
Michael Lewis suffered the defeat on the Marlins’ mound, giving up 10 runs (eight earned) on four hits, with five walks. Nick Mercer stepped in for three relief innings, allowing two runs on as many hits. He struck out one batter.
